Native to the rain forests of Central and South America, Blue Star features formidable, blue-green fronds that are unlike the segmented, delicate-looking leaves typically found on other ferns. Its broad, somewhat wavy fronds grow 1-2' long and emerge on thin petioles, or leaf stalks. Fronds do not flower. This low-maintenance houseplant performs best in the medium light levels found in most rooms. Don't place this plant in south-facing windows, and keep it out of direct sunlight to help prevent leaves from browning. More tolerant of low humidity than most ferns.
