This perennial is an old-world favourite for the cottage garden (or the monastery). Most effective for borders, it offers palmate, leathery foliage of lustrous, dark green. Dark blue hooded flowers rise up in pyramidal forms in midsummer. Long lived and trouble free. Monkshood grows best in the shade but will tolerate some sun. Requires no staking.
